Richard receiving freedom of the city of London plaque 20th Oct 2011

Richard is married to Lorraine and has one son Thomas. They have lived in Leigh for the past 25 years.
He was a fabricator/welder until he hurt his back and was forced to find another job. He then went to work for Kevin Mc Cloud at Mc Cloud lighting in 1995 who sent him to the Wessex Guild to learn Blacksmithing, first at Cannington College and then there purpose built site at WestPoint, Exeter. www.blacksmithsguild.com. Which he now an active member of and occasionally teaches at WestPoint.

Kevin said of Richard " I have rarely met a craftsman of such dedication and who possesses such a love for his work"

He then started to compete in the Static and Lives at the county shows, Then he joined the NBCC www.blacksmithscompetition.co.uk as the North Somerset representative and is now the Treasurer and took over as chief steward of the North Somerset show when it move to it new home at Wraxell in 2002

He then went to work for Canepa Lighting when Mc Cloud lighting closed in 2003.

In November 2008 he became self employed and started up Dragon Works Forge, since then he has helped Iron age forge restore the
Railing at The Crescent, Bath. Built new hinges for the Rural life museum Glastonbury, hinges and drop bolts for Wells Cathedral's extension and makes bespoke tables for a company in London.

Richard is a regular visitor to the WCB awards Luncheon and is hoping to join the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths later this year.
